1) Introduction
The Shrink fit fastening process is widely used in industry to produce tight, precision assemblies where other fastening methods are neither necessary nor practical. it can also be used in research to produce a predictable residual stress state.
2) Interference
Steel Hubs : 1/1,000 ~ 15/10,000 of shaft dia.
3) Fitting Methods
(A) When using the keys lightly coat shoft.
(B) Heat hubs
Heat hubs to 135°C Using one of the following methods.
1. The hub with a 135°C temperature sensitive crayon(melts at precriped temperature) in serveral places near the teeth. Direct the flame toward the hub bore and keep in motion while heating to avoid overheating on area. Do not apply heat directry to the teeth.
2. Set the ovrn thermosttar at 135°C and heat the hub at least 3 minutes for each mm of thickness. Do not allow hub teeth to come in contact with heat source.
3. Use an oil whth a flash point of 177°C or hinder. Heat 6 minutes per mm of thickness. Do not rest hub teeth on the bottom of the container.
4)Mount hubs
Mount the hub on the shaft as quickly as possible to avoid heat loss.
